The Imperial Bureaucracy as described in Dawn of the Emperors is clearly inspired by that of the British Empire, as is, at least in name, one branch of the Thyatian Armed Forces, the "Retebius Air Corps" (RAF), which consists of cavalry on flying mounts (Pegasus, Hippogriffs, Griffons, Sphinxs, Rocs, and Dragons). The Emperor himself is akin to that of the Byzantine Empire (as is the capital city's placement on a major strait). It is governed by an Emperor and an Imperial Senate as per the classical Roman Empire, but enfranchises a feudal noble class similar to that of the Holy Roman Empire. It is on the southeastern coast of the continent of Brun, situated between the trade lanes of the Sea of Dread to the south and the Sea of Dawn to the east, alongside a canal ("Vanya's Girdle").Ĭonceptually, Thyatis is a mixture of different parts of the various historical Roman empires. Dark slimes will only drop plain +0 steel targes.Thyatis (the city) is the capital of the Empire and the largest city on Mystara. Currently steel targes can be found rarely from chests, or as a rare drop from Dark Slimes (perhaps around 1%).

This means other stats such as dodge, shield block, and total health remain relevant against many mobs even if you cap your defense stat. So defense can reduce half of that 150 damage to 1, but the other 75dmg will still go through. For example, liches deal 150 damage, and half of that is armor piercing. You will still take any armor piercing damage as it is exempt from defense.
Any armor piercing (arp) damage from certain mobs (or players with particular gear) is exempt, and cannot be reduced by any amount of defense. Damage taken is reduced by approximately 1.333% per 1 point of defense before applying any benefits from leveling up the armor's skill.
